Babies need extra care and precaution in the early days to develop the immune system. The new born babies should be taken lot of care with love and affection for their healthy growth and development. The items used for the babies should be well washed and sterilized properly before and after every feed given to them. The bottles that are used for the babies to feed milk, should be sterilized well as the normal washing will never remove the bacteria present in the milk. If the bottles are not sterilized properly, the babies are prone to many infectious diseases. For the healthy growth of a baby it is necessary to wash and sterilize the bottles with every feed. The modern way of sterilizing the bottles is the use of electric and microwave. In the absence of electricity people sterilize the bottles by boiling the water along with the bottles.

Sterilization in a microwave takes nearly five to eight minutes and the items remain sterile for nearly three hours. You should never place any metal parts in the microwave. Another way of sterilizing baby bottles is the cold water sterilization. You need to dissolve the tablets( that are safe with out any side effects) in sufficient amount of water which forms an effective solution to kill the bacteria. Sterilization can be completed in half an hour but it is better to leave the bottles in the prepared solution for about twenty four hours so that the bacteria is killed completely and the bottles are kept fresh for a long time. The bottles can be filled with milk and stored in the main part of the refrigerator for one complete day.

The old traditional way of boiling can be done to sterilize the bottles for about ten minutes. Separate pan should be maintained for sterilizing the bottle feed items. The bottles can be sterilized even in microwave also for about ninety seconds.  The childs health and happiness should be given first importance.

Few steps to be followed in sterilizing:-

The nipples should be separated before sterilizing all the feed items.

The feeding items should be washed first with hot water and soap.

Heat the water in the pan and place the items in the pan.

The water should be boiled atleast for five minutes before removing the items from the pan.

The items that are boiled in the pan can be safely removed with the help of tongs.

Dry the items that are removed from the pan with the help of paper towels or you can set them on dish rack.

Proper sterilization helps to keep the bottles bacteria free and also the baby can be healthy.
